Personality:
Like her father, Nikki seems to share Sonic’s personality. She loves the feeling of being free and rarely stays still for very long. She sees every challenge as a thrill, unless it involves those she cares about getting hurt. Nikki does have a temper that shows up every once in a while, but it takes a lot to get her there. She is especially protective of her teammates and will risk her own life to save them if need be. Though she doesn’t consider herself a masochist, her undying spirit and will often pushes her beyond her extreme limits, almost killing her in many situations. She has a tendency to lead with her heart first and her mind second, often offering a hand to help those in need as well as raise moral in her team and those around her.
Other Information:
Nikki has a fear of small spaces, Claustrophobia. When in these situations, she can’t think rationally and is only thinking of getting out, causing her to sometimes injure herself when trapped. Unlike her father, she has the ability to swim, an ability that Knuckles taught her himself as a promise to his old friend.
History:
Nikki never got the chance to get to know her father, Sonic, the great hero of Mobius. At age twenty-one, Sonic disappeared in a Chaos Reactor explosion, the same day that Nikki was born (which was also Sonic’s own birthday). Originally named after her father as Sonic II, the young girl preferred to be called “Nikki”, which actually came about because the young hedgehog couldn’t say her name. The nickname stuck and now everyone calls her “Nikki” or “Sonica”.
Like so many children when the Exus War started, Nikki’s village (Fairbreeze Village, which is located in the dense forest in Mongor on Mobius) was raided by the Exus Army. The young five year old hedgehog managed to survive and was taken to Stern Orphanage, where she stayed for three years. There she met Jodi Ferret, who became a sister to her like Tails was a brother to Sonic. She also met Trace Wolf, of which the two didn’t get along at all. Trace thought that she was an annoyance and a Military Brat, while Nikki thought of the wolf as a downer and an A-Class Jerk. A rivalry quickly rose between the two.
After three years being cooped up in the orphanage’s high fortress like walls, Nikki couldn’t stand feeling trapped anymore and decided to try and escape. She formed a temporary alliance with Trace, knowing it would be the only way to escape the prison like building. The first attempt failed, resulting in the two kids getting caught and forced to clean the place from top to bottom. But that same night, an Exus Beast broke into the orphanage, threatening the many children that lived there. Trace, Nikki, and Jodi worked together and managed to stop the robot. After freeing the orphanage from the robot onslaught, the kids tried to escape again and succeeded with Jodi’s help, who stayed behind while Trace and Nikki left.
With a few close calls along the way, Trace and Nikki managed to track down the Mobian Freedom Fighters’ base. There, the two parted ways. Once she entered the base, the eight year old hedgehog met the leader of the Mobian Freedom Fighters, Miles “Tails” Prower. The kindhearted fox took her in and raised her as his own daughter. She also met Cream Rabbit, who ended up becoming a second mother to her, and Knuckles Echidna, who became her mentor in everything from Martial Arts to conquering Sonic’s greatest weakness, water.
Over the next few years, the young hedgehog was growing up into an amazing warrior, overcoming immense obstacles both physically and emotionally. By the time that Nikki turned 14, Tails thought it best to create another freedom fighter group ran by the next generation of Mobians. That group became known as Genesis, separated into three sub-groups. The young hero, along with the rest of the next generation freedom fighters, have been working together there ever since.
Sonic’s daughter still has a daunting destiny ahead of her, but she already has the makings and skills to become the next hero of Mobius.
